Back on track

I beat my Austin time. It was just by a few seconds, but considering that I was hit by a car earlier in the week, I was somewhat impressed with myself. It was my first race since K left to go back home. It was a little sad, but the fact that I had Aubs there was comforting. I think that A will do just fine in taking over the cheerleader/drill sargeant vacancy AND she rocked out and bet her previous time. So it was a good day overall.

I don't have any hardcore, chiseled in stone plans for the rest of the season. The Memorial, the Redbud, Dirty 30, and possibly the Red Dirt Mud  run are all on the list. We will just have to see how the season shapes up. I hope that everyone has had a great weekend. And please everyone be careful out there and pay attention to your surroundings, because they might not be paying attention to you.

Peace , love, and bandaids.

World of Chaos

My world has been a world of chaos lately. So please excuse the lack of posts. My favorite Aussie (no offense, Mike)  and drill instructor left me today. I have been spending as much time as possible with her before she left, including a weekend trip to Austin to run. My time wasn't impressive but was a good start to the season. Kel and Aubs rocked the half-marathon. It was a good weekend.

I was in an accident earlier this week that monkeywrenched my plan to rock out the Deer Creek Classic 10K with Aubs this weekend. But I will still do the 5K and do my best to beat my time from Austin.  So far I am a little behind schedule with my 12 races for the year, but we are just now getting into racing season and I think that it will all come together.

It's been a long, trying, emotional day and I can't really think of what I want/need to write. So I will sign off for now. Check back for results of tomorrow's run.

Peace, Love, and Friends.

Austin or Bust!

I am doing my first race of the year and I am soooooo  excited. I'm already waaaaayyyyy behind schedule, but this trip is going to be Legend....wait for it.... dary! Me and my drill sargeants/accomplices are heading down to Austin to race in the Livestrong Half and 5K. I am doing the 5k for many reasons, the most obvious being that I am not prepared for a half and you should never do a race unprepare. But I will work my way back. So until then I have to reside myself to the fact that I am only doing 5k. I will be nice to watch and cheer K and A across the finish line. They are both faster than me, so this will be the first time that I get to see them cross. I have made a killer playlist to celebrate.

From Crap to Worse

My NYR went from crap to worse. It's like the stars are against me. I was sick, the baby was sick, then I had a foot issue, stuff at work, early night fall. Nothing was working for me. But I had an awesome short 2 mile the other day and it wa so what I needed. I have been running, doing P90x, and am starting yoga tomorrow. I will back on track in no time. Not to mention that my dear friend Drea is bound and determined to torture me in as many way possible now that we have started the 2nd Annual Big Ass Challenge. Wall pushups and sit-ups have started us off. I have so much going on right now, but I am going to try my best to keep everything updated. I have some really exciting stuff planned for this year. Stay tuned!

The Blog is Back!

I know, I know! I've been AWOL for....EVER. But I'm back, baby and ready to rumble. I made my NYR like 3 weeks before the new year. I want 12 races finished this year, including the D30 and that *%&*%&*&^ wall. : ) My cheerleader/mypain in my arse/bestie, K, is abandoning me (I mean "going home")  in a couple of months. So I will be doing  the majority of the season without her. : (  Fortunately, I have an alternative. My geek twin/cousin in spirit/new pain in my arse, Aub, will be filling in. She is the reason that I will be in my first race of the season tomorrow morning. I'm excited but know it is going to suck. We are having unseasonably good weather, so I may be pleasantly surprised. The holidays  have not been good to me or my training.  I didn't go overboard on holiday goodies, but me and my entire family has battled one illness or another.  My lupus has been more aggressive than usual considering the warm weather.  But I'm ready to run. I miss running every day. Never thought that I would say that in my lifetime, but it's true. So Happy New Year, Happy running, and happy new adventures.

Holy Cheeze Whiz!

Last time I checked it was October, now here it is almost Thanksgiving. I should be excited, but a big scary something stands between me and my happy Turkey day. The Route 66 half-marathon. ugh!!! The course is hilly and I have been slacker training. I'm getting my butt kicked this Sunday. But as always, if I have to crawl across that finish line I will. : ) I am heading out with two of the coolest chicas alive. K and A are going to crush this race. I am so proud of K is doing such an awesome job. She is going to show her first half who's boss. And then possibly drag me back to the car. : )  So.... my bags are packed, my iPod loaded, and strategy picked out. Only thing left is to ask everyone to pray for me and an under 4 hour finish! LOL : ) Below is my carefully selected playlist and quite possibly my driving force to finish.

So I've been on hiatus....

I have taken a little break from blogging. Not training, just blogging. And now I'm back! The Route 66 half-marathon is coming up in November and I have really been trying to focus on it. I know that I said that I only wanted to do 1 half this year, but as usual K talked me into doing something crazy. So we've been  training, and have ran a few little races in between. We ran the  Diabetes 5K in Norman that was a pretty good course, but of I am biased since my heart is in Norman. I have been rehabilitating my left ankle which is the one that I sprained back before the RedBud. It gets really tight and pulls after about 2 miles, but we are working on it. And so the countdown begins....heaven help me. : )
